Restaurants can’t afford not to have quality fire suppression systems. For an example of what can happen when a restaurant isn’t prepared to take on fire suppression, consider a recent article for the Current Argus titled “No answers as Buffalo Wild Wings remains closed.”
Jessica Onsurez of the Current Argus writes, “The doors of the Carlsbad-based Buffalo Wild Wings still had a notice turning customers away from the restaurant Monday as Carlsbad police said they are still investigating allegations of a break in. There is no indication of when the restaurant will reopen but would-be customers continued to visit the parking lot Monday to double-check on the restaurant's status. The popular wing and beer franchise opened in Carlsbad in November 2015. Less than six months later, the store has been closed twice in a few weeks because of issues with its fire suppression system, more specifically it being removed from the building in questionable ways. The business closed again last week after Carlsbad police on Friday took a report for breaking and entering and criminal damage to property from the store on W. Pierce Street, Sgt. Jason Griffin of the Carlsbad Police Department said. The equipment for the fire suppression system was removed for the second time in two weeks. At this point, Griffin said the removal of the fire suppression system is considered part of a civil matter. The first time the restaurant was ordered closed by the Carlsbad Fire Department Fire Marshal because the fire suppression system wasn't working. Carlsbad city ordinances require all businesses to have a working system in case of fire. At that time, restaurant owners indicated that an issue with the subcontractor who installed the system led to the closure, and the restaurant soon had its doors reopened.”
