You never know when to expect a kitchen fire, which is why you should always be prepared as a restaurant owner. When the worst case scenario happens, it is essential to have a quality fire suppression system to prevent the fire from completely dismantling your business. Consider a recent article for the Las Vegas Review-Journal titled “32 firefighters respond to Arby's kitchen fire.”
Jessica Terrones of the Las Vegas Review-Journal writes, “Thirty-two firefighters responded to a blaze at Arby's on Boulder Highway on Saturday morning about 7:30 a.m., according to the Clark County Fire Department. The department received several calls reporting that the Arby's restaurant at 4954 Boulder Highway just south of the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Boulder Highway was filling with smoke, according to a media release. When they arrived, firefighters saw the restaurant had heavy smoke pouring out of the door. Upon their entry, firefighters reported high heat conditions and zero visibility. The fire was quickly located in the kitchen and storage areas of the building, where firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in less than 17 minutes, the release stated.”
The Post Bulletin also examines a recent kitchen fire in an article titled “Kitchen fire forces local restaurant to close Tuesday.” Kay Fate of the Post Bulletin writes, “An employee at Kingdom Buffet, 1639 Broadway Ave. N, began heating some oil in a wok Tuesday morning, then forgot about it, said Vance Swisher, deputy chief of the Rochester Fire Department. The oil soon ignited. The employee was able to control the fire with an extinguisher, Swisher said, but soot and smoke damage to the business — as well as food contamination — forced the restaurant to remain closed for the day. It reopened for business at 11 a.m. today. There were no injuries.”
