Spring Cleaning For Your Food Truck

Spring Cleaning For Your Food Truck

Winter is coming to an end, and that means that Spring is coming along with the usual uptick in business. Now is a great time to give your food truck a deep Spring cleaning to get you ready to tackle the Spring season like a champ!

  • To begin you should get some disinfectant spray and begin cleaning every surface you can - from the walls to the ceiling and down to the floors. This will help ensure any hidden dirt and germs are properly handled.
  • Once the main surfaces have been disinfected you should begin tackling your appliances by disinfecting and wiping down appliances such as stove tops, friers, and the exhaust hood system. This will help remove dirt and grease buildups that occur over time.
  • If you have any heating or cooling elements that have coils you should clean these to remove any buildup of dust and debris, which should help to keep them running efficiently and avoid any downtime.
  • Empty out your fridge space and give it a deep scrubbing with a brush and some disinfectant.
  • It’s also a good time to clean out any freezers and ice machines as well to give them a good scrubbing and disinfectant tip down.
  • Any sinks and faucets should be hit with a lime remover such as CLR.
  • Move the heavy appliances away from the walls and get back behind them with a rag and some disinfectant to clean out as much dust and grime as possible.

The above list seems relatively short, but it will be a decent project to complete in order to do an above adequate job. If you follow the steps above though you should have a spotless, clean food truck ready to tackle the Spring rush! It is a good idea to do a deep cleaning like this at least once a year to give your food truck a fresh, clean feeling. Once the deep clean is done you can continue the cleanliness factor of the truck by doing basic daily routines to help clean:

  • Clean and wash all dishes nightly
  • Empty garbage pails
  • Wipe down all cooking and serving surfaces
  • Empty the water well to avoid bacteria growth
  • Switch out cutting boards and clean used ones
  • Wash and disinfect window ledges and surfaces
  • Scrub and wipe down all cooking tools and appliances
  • Sweep and mop the floor
  • Wash any and all floor mats

A clean food truck is a functioning food truck.
