  1. Upblast Exhaust Fans 101

Replacing or installing new kitchen equipment can be confusing in many situations, and each application could require different appliances. Having a general knowledge of your equipment is not only smart ahead of the initial purchase, but also helps the owner understand the amount of cleaning necessary to keep the exhaust fan running properly, and also could help in the diagnosing of any issues with the exhaust fan that may occur.

Fan Base - the fan base is the very botton part of the actual exhaust fan itself, and is what attaches to the roof curb to secure the exhaust fan to the roof.

Fan Shaft - The fan shaft is the cylindrical tube that sits between the fan base and the fan bowl.

Fan Bowl - The fan bowl is the top of the upblast exhaust fan, and is generally the largest part of the unit. Inside the fan bowl you'll find the exhaust motor and the fan blades.
